Samy Deluxe is Patron of Popkomm-IMEA 2007
On 19 September Germany’s top rapper Samy Deluxe and Popkomm will be presenting the eight finalists in this year’s competition for innovative business ideas, Popkomm-IMEA. Following in the footsteps of Herbert Grönemeyer and Paul van Dyk, this is the third year that a leading artists has been persuaded to act as patron of the “Innovation in Music & Entertainment Award”. Samy Deluxe’s reputation as a rapper extends beyond Germany's borders, and he also heads his own label.
“We are delighted that Samy Deluxe has agreed to act as patron of the Popkomm-IMEA 2007”, says Popkomm Director Katja Bittner. “He continues the same high level set by previous patrons of Popkomm-IMEA, artists who control their own business affairs and whose contribution to the future of the industry is not confined to music alone. After having received more than 100 applications – almost twice as much as last year – from all over the world, our independent IMEA-prejury had to face the challenge to pick from all these very interesting, creative and promissing projects those who are invited to present their projects at the Popkomm-IMEA finalists Screening Session on September 19 in Berlin. (2 to 6 pm, conference room 2 / hall 22 @ Popkomm)

Berlin, 27 July 2007 – New ideas need support.
Popkomm has enlisted first-rate partners to sponsor the Innovation in Music & Entertainment Award IMEA and to give the award and the startups taking part strong support. As a special incentive, prize money of 5.000 Euros will be awarded with this year’s Popkomm IMEA. Another first: immediately after the award celebration ceremony Popkomm will invite guests to an exclusive IMEA VIP dinner.

Formats such as MySpace and YouTube have significantly changed the music market. The Popkomm-IMEA - Innovation in Music and Entertainment Award - recognises innovative business ideas which in future will impact on digital music marketing and exploitation. Now Popkomm is presenting a celebrity-studded panel of jurors for the IMEA 2007. Its members include experts on digital music exploitation, members of venture capital companies and trade journalists.

Popkomm awards prize for music, entertainment and technology business ideas – applications from 7th May
Berlin, 7th May 2007 – They are young, they are creative. They have earned attention: young companies. For the fourth time the Popkomm is inviting entries for the Innovation in Music and Entertainment Award (IMEA). Companies and projects can apply online until 31st July at the "How to apply" section of this website.
Popkomm-IMEA 2007: application open as of May 7
As of May 7, innovative start-ups in music, entertainment and technology can enter for the 2007 edition of Popkomm's Innovation in Music and Entertainment Award (IMEA).
All Popkomm–IMEA applicants should:
- Present original and proprietary innovations only
- Have fully operational prototypes and at least some demonstrated market presence and relevance in their home territory
- Be fully incorporated as a company and operate as a going concern
- Be a small or medium sized enterprise (share of a corporate company smaller than 25%)
- Be a start-up project or company (not older than 2 – 5 years)

Royalty Share and DAB Radio/UBC Media win the third Innovations in Music & Entertainment Award (Popkomm IMEA)
Berlin, 20 September 2006 – The winners of the Popkomm IMEA 2006 have been decided: in the category ”Digital Music & Marketing Innovations, B2B Solutions“ this coveted prize has been won by the US company Royalty Share. Play Music Magazine from Norway received special praise for their outstanding project work in this category. UBC Media's project "DAB Radio" from London were awarded the Popkomm IMEA in the “Mobile Music & Entertainment“ category. ... more
